Argyle Eagles Advance to Regional Semi-Finals

ARGYLE, Texas - Your Argyle Eagles will face Texarkana Pleasant Grove in the Region 2 Semi-finals of the 3A basketbal playoffs. The game will be at The Fieldhouse on the campus of Texas A&M - Commerce on Friday, March 2nd at 8:00.

Like the Regional Quarterfinals, defenses should rule the day. The Eagles are ranked #2 by the Massey Ratings for defense, with Pleasant Grove being ranked #3. The Eagles have proven their defensive prowess in the playoffs holding the high scoring Madison Trojans to 29 points and Lovejoy to 37 points. Madison came into the game ranked #7 in state with the state's third best offense, averaging 71 points per game. The Eagles held Madison to three points in the first quarter and only ten points at the half. The 29 points scored by Madison was their lowest all season. The Eagles held Lovejoy to 37 points, tying their lowest of the season matching the defensive effort of 5A DeSoto (ranked #5 in state).

Pleasant Grove advanced to the Regional Semi-finals by defeating Crandall 55-46 and North Forney 45-41.
